Madalas mamali ng mga Pinoy ang English ng ‘kapares ng sapatos’? They wrongly think it’s ‘pair of shoes’

‘Pair of shoes’ refers to the two pieces for your left and your right feet

you don’t refer the one piece as ‘a pair’

This usage is a common mistake among Pinoys.

‘mate’ not ‘pair’

Nasaan ang kapares sa sapatos ko?

Wrong: Where’s the pair of my shoe?

Correct: Where’s the mate to my shoe?

not paired

Ang sapatos ko ay hindi magkapares. Ang kapares ay iba ang kulay? — My shoes is not paired. The mate is of different color.
